This Ducati came in with inconsistent VIN information between modules. Using OBDSTAR MOTOMASTER, the VIN stored in the BBS can be written back to the ECU so the VIN information matches across the system.
Check Youtube Tutorial:
Read Vehicle Information
- Connect OBDSTAR MOTOMASTER and enter DUCATI → Latest Version → Diagnosis → Auto Identify [VIN] → Read.
- The tool automatically reads the VIN and identifies the vehicle.
- Confirm the detected model and continue.
Check the Current ECU VIN
- Go to Auto Scan → Scan ECU.
- After the scan is complete, enter the Engine System.
- Open ECU Information and read the version data.
During the check, the VIN stored in the ECU was different from the VIN information found in the other modules.

Write VIN to the ECU
- Enter Special Functions → Agree → Password 123 → VIN (Chassis No.) Writing → OK.
- Select “Write the VIN stored in the BBS to the ECU”.
- Tap OK and wait for the procedure to finish.
The tool reports that VIN writing has been completed successfully.

Verification
Exit the function and return to ECU Information. Read the ECU information again and confirm that the VIN has been updated successfully.

Workshop Notes
After writing the VIN from the BBS to the ECU, the VIN information can be brought back into agreement across the motorcycle’s modules.
