What is the difference between OBDSTAR DC706 and ECU MASTER?
OBDSTAR DC706 focuses on passenger car ECM, TCM, BCM, BMS, and motorcycle ECU work, with convenient OBD and BENCH operation through a tablet interface.
ECU MASTER has stronger BOOT, JTAG, and BDM capabilities, with easier PC-based file management. Motorcycle software requires a separate purchase for Passenger Car Configuration A.
Do I still need the DC706 after getting ECU MASTER?
It depends on your workflow.
If you mainly work on passenger cars and motorcycles through OBD/BENCH modes, DC706 may still offer better value. ECU MASTER is better for advanced ECU development and deeper programming operations.
What makes ECU MASTER different from other ECU tools?
ECU MASTER combines passenger car ECM, TCM, BCM, commercial vehicle ECU, motorcycle ECU, and collision repair functions in one platform.
Many tools focus only on ECM tuning, while ECU MASTER provides broader ECU coverage, including body ECU-related functions.
Can I buy one configuration first and upgrade later?
Yes. Each configuration can be purchased separately and upgraded later.
However, buying the complete package (Full Version) upfront is usually more cost-effective.
Does ECU MASTER combine the functions of DC706 and P50?
Yes. ECU MASTER integrates many functions from DC706 and P50.
It also supports optional commercial vehicle cloning and includes adapters such as MP001, P004, CANFD connectors, and P003+.
ECU Programming Functions
Does ECU MASTER support checksum correction?
Yes. Checksum correction is supported for more than 90% of supported ECU types.
Can ECU MASTER modify files with WinOLS and write them back?
Yes.
If the modified file is not original raw ECU data, checksum calculation is required before writing. Manual checksum correction may be needed for unsupported ECU types.
Does ECU MASTER support IMMO Off in BOOT mode?
Yes, some ECU models support IMMO Off in BOOT mode.
Always check the specific ECU coverage list before operation.
Can ECU MASTER read and write encrypted Bosch MD1CE100 ECUs?
No. Encrypted versions are currently not supported.
It supports Bosch MD1CE100 ECUs manufactured before June 2020.
If ECU MASTER unlocks an ECU, can other tuning tools be used afterward?
Yes.
After unlocking, other tuning tools can read and write the ECU unless a relocking operation is performed.

Does ECU MASTER Configuration A support Bosch MDG1 unlocking?
Yes, selected Bosch MDG1 ECU models are supported on OBDSTAR ECU MASTER A.
More coverage will be added through future updates.
Does ECU MASTER support Mercedes-Benz SIM4LKE and 2002–2010 models?
This function is included in the development plan.
Additional vehicle coverage will be added based on demand.
Does ECU MASTER support China-specific functions?
Support is being released gradually.

Commercial Vehicle & Truck Support
Does ECU MASTER Configuration C support Volvo, Scania, and UD truck tuning?
IMMO Off is supported on certain ECU models using OBDSTAR ECU MASTER C.
EGR Delete, DPF Delete, SCR Delete, and horsepower tuning are not supported.
Does ECU MASTER support truck ECUs only through BENCH mode?
Currently, truck ECUs support:
- BENCH mode
- BOOT mode
- BDM/JTAG mode
OBD mode support will be added for selected models in future updates.
Will Configuration C be available for KEYMASTER G3?
Currently, there are no plans to add Configuration C to KEYMASTER G3.
Future availability depends on market demand and may require additional adapters.
Will KEYMASTER G3 and ECU MASTER have different functions?
If both product lines continue together, software functions and coverage will remain consistent.
The main difference is the hardware platform: tablet-based vs PC-based operation.

Can ECU MASTER use the C4-07 adapter?
Yes. C4-07 Adapter Kit is compatible with ECU MASTER.
Can ECU MASTER use the complete C4-07 adapter set for Mercedes-Benz VGS4-0 NAG2?
Yes. The full adapter set is supported.
Is the full C4-06 adapter kit required?
No.
Only the basic adapter kit is required for C4-06 functions.
Operating Requirements
Does ECU MASTER require an internet connection?
Yes.
A continuous internet connection is required. Offline use will limit most functions.
Does ECU MASTER Configuration C require internet access?
Yes. Configuration C requires an active internet connection.
Does ECU MASTER support J2534 Pass-Thru?
No.
OBDSTAR ECU MASTER Configuration A does not include J2534 Pass-Thru capability.
Operation & Troubleshooting
How do I upload ECU MASTER log files?

Why does Mercedes-Benz CRD2.xx BENCH mode fail?
For this ECU, BENCH mode only supports:
- Reading ECU information
- Virgin reset
Direct ECU data reading/writing through BENCH mode is not supported.
What is the correct unlock and read/write workflow?
The correct process is:
- Unlock the ECU in BOOT mode.
- Perform read/write operations in BENCH mode.

- C4-06 Adapter: Basic adapter kit is enough; full set is unnecessary.
