A VGS2-NAG2 TCM replacement job isn’t complicated with the OBDSTAR DC706 ECU Tool. Read the original module data first, then renew and personalize the TCM before writing back the required coding and VIN through the bench workflow.
Required Equipment
Prepare the following equipment before starting:
- OBDSTAR DC706
- High-power DC power supply
- Main Cable
- TCM-012 Cable
- P004 Adapter
- Mercedes-Benz VGS2-NAG2 TCM
Update the DC706 Software to the latest version before operation.

Bench Connection
Open:
ECU Flasher → TCM → Latest Version → MB BENZ SIEMENS/CONTINENTAL VGS2-NAG2 → Start → BENCH → P004 → Guide
- Check the Guide information for the selected adapter. Use ECU Image to confirm the TCM appearance, then follow Connector Pinout and Dedicated to complete the wiring.
- Tap Connect and follow the device prompts to switch the ignition OFF and ON until communication is established.
Read the Original TCM
- Tap Read Data, follow the ignition prompts, and save the data file after reading is complete.
- Tap Read Coding, complete the required ignition cycle, and save the coding file.
Prepare the Replacement TCM
- Open Special Functions → Activate TCU and follow the device prompts to complete activation.
- Enter Special Functions → Reset Virgin (Renew) and operate the switch according to the prompts until the renew process succeeds.
- Open Special Functions → Data Transfer (Personalization) → Load Extern Data, select the TCM data to be written, then complete the ignition cycle to finish personalization.
Restore the Original Coding and VIN
- Open Special Functions → Write Coding → Load Extern Data, load the saved coding file, then complete the ignition cycle.
- Open Special Functions → Write VIN, enter the VIN to be modified, and complete the ignition cycle until writing is successful.
Workshop Notes
After programming is complete, verify that the vehicle starts normally and the basic transmission functions operate as expected.
